Gooseberry Cove, Cape Shore Highway

Picture

The Jewel of the Cape Shore Highway

South of Placentia is Gooseberry Cove Provincial Park where you can watch the waves roll onto a long, sandy beach.
It is a perfect cove. Cove means more than a coastal inlet, in Olde English, it carries the cozy connotation of being an inner chamber.

Gooseberry Cove is an ideal place for a picnic, a bonfire or swim, and is our number one recommendation for those visiting the Placentia area.

While you're there, be sure to catch a glimpse of the seals, who are often found playing in the waves.
