Cataracts Provincial Park
Cataracts park is definitely off the beaten path, but it is often considered one of the best hidden gems on the Avalon.
The deep river gorge is home to two gigantic, cascading waterfalls, this site offers scenic views and great photo opportunities. The beautiful arched bridge built in 1926 stretches elegantly across the falls, spiral walkways met by wooden staircases guide you down into the depths of the gorge. This is the perfect place for a picnic. The 20 minute drive to access it is unpaved, but well maintained. The viewing area is not well marked but look for the parking area just across the bridge. |
