Castle Hill National Historic Site
Castle Hill National Historic Site consists of the remains of French and British fortifications and outworks from the late 17th to the early 19th centuries that sit on the tip of a peninsula, high above Placentia Newfoundland, on the east side of Placentia Bay.
It contains the remains of defensive walls, three military works, a marsh, cannons, and a historic pathway. This is the perfect place to hike if you're looking for something that won't take all day, but still provides that perfect view! Before you cross the bridge, behind the POLYPIPE building and the convenience store, you will find the trail head. This is a steep, but short hike. You can have a more leasurely walk if you drive to the top of the site and start there. Picnic tables available on site |
